For non-Japanese nationals who wish to study at Vantan

Vantan has been in vocational training for 46years and have trained many well-known professionals in the creative industries. For this achievement, METI (Ministry of Export, Trade and Industry) and the Ministry of Justice have certified Vantan as an institution which may accept foreign students.

Consequently, all accepted applicants become eligible for a student visa. This visa makes it possible for students to enroll in a regular one to three year curriculum at Vantan　Design Institute’s Yebisu campus.

Since all regular curriculum courses are taught in Japanese, all students must have at least a N2 or equivalent level Japanese language ability. No prior design experience is necessary except for those applying to X-SEED which is the most advanced course that Vantan Design Institute offers.

Fashion Department
  • Collection Design - 3 years
  • Pattern Modelist Course - 2-3 years
  • Costume Design - 3 years
  • Fashion Design - 2 years
  • Stylist Course - 2 years
Hair and Make-up Department
  • Make-up Artist Course - 2 years
Advanced Fashion Design Courses
  • X-SEED 1 year
  • ※Only those who have completed a course in fashion design/patterning can enroll in X-SEED. Applicants’ portfolio will be evaluated for admission.
Diploma, certificate of completion, will be issued.
Students who attend more than 80 % of classes will be given a certificate of completion from Vantan Design Institute.
